Fam trips celebrating 40 years of excellence in UK English language teaching

50 study abroad agents visited schools in the UK this month on fam trips organised by English UK members. The trips in early September were part of the 40th anniversary of Accreditation UK, British Council’s inspection scheme for UK English language teaching centres.

The four trips visited British Council accredited language centres in different parts of the UK: London, Bristol and Cardiff, Chester and York and the North of England.

One participant explained how they benefitted from the fam trip: “I found it very useful to see the facilities because we could meet the staff and see some students learning as well. It gave me a feeling about how the school works and what kind of atmosphere there is. I find this very important because it makes it easier to imagine what kind of students would be placed well in that school.”

The Bristol and Cardiff trip participants had the chance to visit Bristol’s famous Clifton Suspension Bridge and Cardiff Castle, alongside school visits to International House Bristol, ELC Bristol, Celtic English Academy, CELT – Centre for English Language Teaching and Peartree ELEA at UWC Atlantic College.

The North of England trip visited seven cities across six days – Communicate School of English, Berlitz, IH Manchester and Express English in Manchester, Lila* in Liverpool, ELTC in Sheffield, MDA College, CES and Language Path in Leeds, Melton College and English in York in York, and IH Newcastle.

Agents on the UKLC fam trip visited centres for young learners in London, Chester and York.

Agents on the London trip stayed in the UK capital to visit 15 English language schools across the city.
